  • (A) Spatiotemporal maps of motoneuron activity during walking and running on a treadmill at different speeds. EMGs are expressed in microvolts (non‐normalized method). The amplitudes are denoted by a color scale (right calibration bar). (B) Correlation between walking and running temporal activation patterns calculated separately for the stance and swing phases. Note the high correlations in the lumbosacral segments during swing, and low (even negative) correlations for the sacral segments during stance.
