  • Comparison between the theoretical and experimental transmission powder spectra of kaolinite in the mid‐IR range for various diluting media. The dielectric constant used in the theoretical calculations was 2.62, 2.34 and 2.15 for KI, KBr and KCl, respectively. The experimental spectra have been normalized using the band corresponding to the bending of OH groups (vertical arrow). The bands affected by the change of diluting media are polarized perpendicularly to the plates (stars).
