Asset Details

  • Description:
  • Relationship between measured propofol concentrations in the paleohepatic (□), anhepatic (▵) and neohepatic (▪) phases and the corresponding target concentrations (○) in one patient undergoing orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT). After induction of anesthesia, the target‐controlled infusion (TCI) was started. After 10 min of equilibration of concentrations between the plasma and the hypothetical effect compartment, indicated by the target effect‐site concentration predicted by the Diprifusor® (Zeneca Pharmaceuticals, Macclesfield, UK), the first propofol blood sample was obtained before skin incision, and this time was defined as 0 min. In this patient, the target concentration of the TCI system decreased gradually during the anhepatic phase and the neohepatic phase after stopping the infusion. Meanwhile the measured propofol concentrations remained constant.
