- JANEX‐1 inhibits lipopolysaccharide (LPS)‐induced inflammatory mediator release by colonic epithelial cells. Monolayers of colonic epithelial cell line, HT29, were treated with JANEX‐1 (3, 10, and 30 μm) for 1 hr prior to LPS (5 μg/mL) challenge. After 6 h, levels of PGE2 (a) and interleukin‐8 (b) were measured in cell‐free supernatants by enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay. Data are expressed as mean ± S.E.M. of three to five independent experiments. *P < 0.05 compared to control.
