Note that the high values or noisy estimates near the coastal boundaries are shown with gray patches. All estimates are based on MOHID‐simulated sea surface heights (SSHs) and surface currents. (d) A spatial map of magnitudes of the spatial gradients of SSHs |∇η|=∂η/∂x2+∂η/∂y2;×106; (e) 2‐day averaged time series of the individual terms of the spatial gradients of SSHs and their magnitudes at a grid point P in Figure d. Intermittent regional storm events are marked with black arrows on the top.
