  • Serum Free Fatty Acid (FFA) levels in early lactating Murrah buffaloes. The panel (a) shows the standard curve for FFA by a spectrophotometric method. The panel (b) depicts the serum FFA levels in total lactating Murrah buffaloes (M, n = 6) and Heifers (H, n = 3). The serum FFA levels were significantly (p < 0.05) higher in M than H during the 3rd and the 4th weeks of early postpartum. The data were analyzed by using a two sample t test with an assumption of unequal variances. The panel (c) represents the serum FFA levels in High Milk Yielders (HMY; n = 3) and Low Milk Yielders (LMY; n = 3) and heifers (H; n = 3). The FFA levels were higher (p < 0.05) in HMY than LMY and H during the 3rd week of postpartum. The data were analyzed by using one‐way ANOVA with the Post hoc Kruskal Wallis test. In the panels (a) and (b), the X‐axes indicate the postpartum weeks and the Y‐axes indicate the mean ± SEM of serum FFA levels (µM).
