- Description:
- Serum Free Fatty Acid (FFA) levels in the randomly selected postpartum buffaloes of the validation population sample. A total of 18 buffaloes were considered by randomly selecting six animals under each category of body condition score (BCS) < 3, 3 and > 3 for serum FFA estimation. The serum FFA levels are significantly higher in postpartum buffaloes with BCS < 3 (327.5 ± 43.43 µM) than the animals with BCS = 3 (175.5 ± 8.93 µM) and BCS > 3 (140.0 ± 4.84 µM). It shows that serum FFA is as efficient as BCS, and it is more objective method of determining negative energy balance in buffaloes than the subjective BCS. BCS: body condition score
