  • Comparison of linear models to predict growth rate (G, day−1) of juvenile Pleuronectes platessa (n = 313) based on white muscle RNA (R, gRNA) and DNA (D, gDNA) concentrations, body mass (M, g), temperature (F, fixed factor with four levels) and a normally distributed error term (ε). Candidate models include the global model (equation 3) and seven reduced models (4–10) missing selected model terms. The best model according to Akaike's information criterion with small‐sample bias adjustment (AICc) is highlighted in bold. Support for each model is expressed relative to the best model (Δmodel) and relative to the other seven models examined (wmodel). K is the number of parameters, including the intercept and the error terms
