  • Growth‐phase dependency of ibsC toxin and sibC antitoxin gene expressions. Our optimized RT‐qPCR‐based approach was used as previously described to analyse gene expression. The results were normalized against cell numbers and total RNA and reported here relative to one another. A) Growth curves for two independent colonies that were cultured for 48 h in LB medium. B) Toxin gene expression at multiple time points representative of different growth phases. C) Antitoxin gene expression at different growth phases. D) Antitoxin to toxin ratios during different growth phases. The data are averages of two biological replicates. The RNA abundance results in 4b and 4c are RNA copy numbers normalized against cell numbers and total RNA in these samples and reported in (B)–(D) relative to one another.
