(a) P.A.S staining of the acinar cells and goblet cells in the main ducts revealed that they gave a strongly (+++) positive reaction; (b) note the AB pH 1.0 staining which gave a slightly (−/+) positive reaction in the acinar cells and goblet cells in the main ducts; (c) the AB pH 2.5 staining demonstrated the presence of a strongly (+++) positive reaction in the acini and goblet cells in the main ducts; (d) the AB pH 2.5 P.A.S technique revealed that the glandular acini stained dark blue (+++); (e) the goblet cells in the main ducts stained purple, with the reaction rated as +++; (f) the acinar cells gave a moderately positive reaction rated as +/++, while the goblet cells in the main ducts revealed a strongly positive reaction (+++) using the HDI method
