The colors of the dots refer to the clusters identified in the STRUCTURE analysis; the squares refer to populations considered a priori as rear‐edge populations: Algeria (1 and 2) and Japan (15). The northernmost populations were considered a priori as “leading” edge populations (Sweden, 23; Denmark, 6 and 7; Germany, 10; Russia, 21).
