- Description:
- Leptin evoked spike discharge in submucous and myenteric neurons in the guinea‐pig colon. Voltage sensitive dye labeled ganglia are shown in A and D. Individual neurons appear as brightly stained circles because the dye incorporates into the outer membrane. Nicotine (10 μmol L−1) and leptin (0.0625 nmol L−1) were microejected (duration of application marked by bars below the trace) and induced spike discharges in submucous (B and C) and myenteric neurons (E and F). Traces are from the neurons marked by an arrow in A and D. Note that the slow depolarisation underlying the spike discharge is not evident because the image system does not resolve small amplitude depolarisations. Panel G shows the spike discharge pattern in myenteric and submucous neurons. Most neurons responded with a low spike discharge between 0.2 and 0.5 Hz.
