In (a) the retention of radioactivity on coarse 0.8‐ or 1.2‐μm polycarbonate or GF/A glass fibre filters of subsamples from 100%Gr bottles is plotted against the corresponding set derived from 20%Gr bottles; (b) shows the equivalent comparison of retention on fine 0.2‐μm polycarbonate filters. Error bars show S.D., solid lines show linear regressions and dotted lines show 99% confidence intervals.
