Specific richness was measured using the Chao estimator, diversity was measured with the Shannon index and community structure was measured with the Pielou index. Symbols represent the period when samples were collected (▲ before, ■ during and ● after monochloramine treatment). Separation on the F1 axis represents 82% of the variance and is composed of approximately the same proportions for the three diversity indices. On the F2 axis, the separation between samples is displayed by the Chao index in one direction and the Pielou index in the other. Separation on the F2 axis represents 17% of the variance. Separation on the F3 axis represents 0.8% of the variance (not shown).
