  • Serum leptin levels in the randomly selected postpartum buffaloes of the validation population sample. Only five animals (three for BCS > 3 and two for BCS < 3) of the validation population sample were used for leptin estimation. There is no significant difference in serum leptin levels between postpartum buffaloes with BCS < 3 and BCS > 3 in in the field conditions. This could be due to could be due to the improper information regarding the feeding schedule on the sampling day in the field conditions. It is well known that feeding would affect the serum leptin levels. In addition, the blood collection for these animals happened after 60 days of postpartum. BCS: body condition score
